Leo Triplet and 256 PGC’s companions

Hi folks,

Galaxies' season is beating hard so this is my modeste contribution ;-) somewhere in a very rich area, just next to the star 73 Leo (n Leonis), home of the famous Leo Triplet : M65, M66 and NGC 3628. Those three spirale galaxies are between 35 and 41 Mly away and "shine" at a visual magnitude around 9. I really enjoy to see this trio and smaller companion NGC3593 about 1° apart from M65. But there are so many many more tiny and faint patches all around! Thanks to PixInsight's annotation tool, I made the version B showing 256 PGCs in this 3° by 2° frame. Crazy!

Image taken over two nights under fair to good conditions atop Jura Mountains near my home. This is my 2nd attempt at the Leo Triplet and I'm very happy with the final image despite some troubles while autoguiding using ASIAIR Pro during 2nd night...I wasn’t able to fix it after 2 hours of hassle, so my brave Lacerta MGEN II was back at work just before coulds rolled in!

First time doing dithering with ASIAIR Pro, worked perfectly on 1st night. My old AP600E GTO shows guiding performance between 0.4'' to 0.8'' RMS on both axis.

Still having freezing temperature over there but it was much more comfy :-)))

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
